We are seeking a team-focused, dynamic, innovative, results-oriented self-starter to be on the ground floor in developing, expanding and leading the Transportation Design Group in our Long Island Melville office. The identified individual should have 10-15 years of design experience, demonstrate the ability to lead and manage small design groups, while also expanding our client base in the Transportation field through existing and new client relationships, marketing and long-term strategic planning.

The successful candidate should have experience working with NYSDOT, Nassau and Suffolk Counties and various local municipalities. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to lead and manage small design groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce roadway/transportation related designs required for new or planned rehabilitation roadway projects
  • Attend client project meetings, participate in proposals/presentations, manage project tasks, and meet with regulatory agencies
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with other members of the design team
  • Manage, train and mentor less experienced engineers in production of plans, specifications and estimates
  • Project engineering responsibilities related to project communication, schedule, budget and progress on various concurrent tasks
  • Assist in local marketing efforts including proposal preparation, professional chapter meetings, and municipal functions and meetings

Requirements

  • Ten to 15 years of relevant highway, interchange, drainage, and roadway design experience
  • Must be a New York Licensed PE familiar with NYSDOT, Nassau and Suffolk Counties and local municipality standards for design and drainage
  • Green Infrastructure experience a plus
  • Must be proficient in MicroStation V8i software, Bentley InRoads, and Civil 3D
  • Must be detail and goal oriented, self-starter and proficient in both verbal and written communications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
